Frank Desgagnés lives and works in Montreal. 

​After obtaining a BA in Fine Arts (with Distinction) from Concordia University in 1995, he made a number of short films and collaborated on various projects. He has since completed various specialized training programs in Canada and the United States.

Given his proximity to the film world, it is not surprising that photographer Frank Desgagnés is heavily influenced by direction, acting, the aesthetic codes of the image, and the visual representation of the world. In his photographic practice he explores such notions as happiness, identity, life and death through stagings that are at once playful and disillusioning. To better understand a reality, he never hesitates to deconstruct or even invert the codes. These different mechanisms of representation allow him to conjure up wonder and beauty, even in the darkest recesses of the themes explored.
